Hi Everyone. I have been an observer of this site for a long time and finally found a reason to post.
I apologise if this topic has been covered before, but I have done a little research into the subject and I believe you are the most reliable source of information.
I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts or opinions on the way that a dartboard is numbered.
Is there a logical explanation? Is it based on a formula?

Basically, the modern dartboard numbering system is a matter of tradition. Like Lawn Darts and Midget Tossing.
Thanks, and Best,

I'm pretty sure the design of the dartboard was layed out, and then the first person to put numbers in threw darts at it. The first dart struck on the place now conventionally numbered "1" (upper right). The second dart landed lower right, etc. It took about two hours to determine which was 19 and which was 20. (I didn't say the first person to number a dart board was a good player.)
A cow pasture was marked as if i were a giant dartboard. The sectors were assigned numbers according to where the cow left a her -- um -- you know.
