The server stopped responding. I opened a ticket with support and went to sleep. I woke up and it was working. Problem solved.
and there was some database weirdness this morning. I made a few optimizations, and hopefully we should be chugging along just fine now.

Where (or rather how) do you run your Internet server?
Posted By: legatissimoI opened a ticket with support.
Are you emotionally or physically handicapped that you need help in just opening a ticket? Or was it stapled or glued shut really well such that you had to have two people pulling on it with all their might?
Taed: it was sewn shut

I'm just starting to learn PHP - do you use a MySQL database? Any recommendations?
MySql is biggest. You will end up choosing between that and Postgres.
However Microsoft also has an excellent free database, Sql Server 2005 Express and a reasonable control tool MSSMSE (Microsoft Sql Server Management Studio Express). These however only work in a windows environment.
I am trying to find a reasonable free data modelling tool.

How often do you see that phrase?? And then to follow it with 'free'?? Unheard of.
MySQL is probably your best bet. It's so ubiquitous, that it's very easy to find tutorials explaining how to just about anything you'd like to do.
Ubiquitous? I'm seeing that word everywhere these days -- what does it mean?
It's like 'unique' -- it accepts no relative qualifier.
Hey, that's one of my ACT words...I wish I had the SATs...:(
Almost no qualifier.
I'd say totally none. At least logically.
How about 'not unique'?
And in parlance (as opposed to logic) 'almost' is acceptable. You are so binary, FT. Next you are going to tell me there aren't shades of black or white.
I see it's Friday afternoon again.
In the immortal words of Los Bravos, "Black is black."
I don't consider 'almost' or 'not' to be relative qualifiers. When modifying "unique" or "ubiquitous" "almost" necessarily means the same thing as "not at all".
Thank God/Allah/Confucius/whoever!!
How about sole, first, final, etc
I did hear 'most winningest' the other night, and I felt a gentle cringe ease its way through my groin.

Why, oh why, did you have to share that?? It's like nails on a chalkboard...
You don't want to hear about the goat's groin? And easing?
Doesn't ubiquitous have a note of evil-ity about it? Sort of like 'infamous'. Ubiquitous is unique, but everpresent in an overbearing sort of way.
But nonetheless (NTL in textspeak), legat and others, you're always helpful - thanks again.
And, nails on a chalkboard - does anyone cringe at the sound of cloth ripping? Phobias, if there ever was one. Sort of like biting a toothbrush. :maximumcringe:
