I need to make some apologizes.

First to nyarfdude and to anyone else to whom it applies--I'm sorry for asking a question in the wrong discussion.

And to Fact Totum--I'm sorry for making an apology in the wrong discussion.

    Please forgive me!

  1.

I'd like to apologize to my mother, for all those meals that I dumped into the floor heater vent when she wasn't looking, rather than eating.

But they didn't taste very good. :smith: Sorry.

I think you may have misunderstood me. I made a silent apology, while typing them. So there.

Christine Lavin (a folk singer) has proposed that there be a National Apology Day, wherein you can apologize to anyone about anything and they have to accept your apology with no strings attached. The world would be a better place, and I'd trade it for Thanksgiving.

Boy, I could use that like every day.

The Muslim holy time of year is called Ramadhan, a month of fasting followed by a big feast. On the feast day, you're supposed to apologize to anyone you've wronged in the past year (or your life), so you start off afresh for the new year.

Further, I doubt I will change anyone's opinions. However, I did really just want to spark some good conversation (which it seems to have!), force myself into some intellectual challenges, and to maybe open the eyes further of those who are not blinded by their "faith".

Sorry for the quotes around faith, Christians, if you've been hurt by it in any way at all!

I really do look down on your belief in such ridiculous crap as the entire Creator-Father-Yahweh-Redeemer/Savior-Jesus-Salvation garbage.

I'm not sorry for looking down on it, just for making it apparent with the quotes.

    Creator-Father-Yahweh-Redeemer/Savior-Jesus-Salvation garbage.

How can you justify looking down on somebody just because they're Christian?

That would make you prejudice towards Christians, and since real Christians aren't prejudice, who's in the position to be truly looked down upon?

Nofence, but the image I get of you is that of the snooty man who looks down on other for not sharing his beliefs. The majority of people I know are Christan because they were brought up that way (Ie: their 'beliefs' were imposed unto them by their parents) It may be the case that you're questioning things because that's how you were brought up, so how can you look down on them for doing the same thing you are?

    Just a few ramblings...

I don't look down on others for not sharing my beliefs. I do look down on others for their beliefs, though. A common failing of humans.

The only beliefs you do NOT seem to look down on are those of Satanists and Atheists.

I was not actually offended until you started saying things like :

    Creator-Father-Yahweh-Redeemer/Savior-Jesus-Salvation garbage.

Until then, I was explaining things in a contextual manner, so that others may not have a poisoned view of my God because the words of the Biblical writers were taken out of context.

    EDIT: And I still am

The only beliefs you do NOT seem to look down on are those of Satanists and Atheists.

Not at all, I think the beliefs of most Satanists are foolish. Most of the "Satanists" of the world are actually Christians who are pissed off at their mom and dad and so are worshiping "Satan", the "Devil" the supposed creator of all Evil (which the Bible proves that God in fact is the source of all Evil and all Good), in a misguided attempt to piss off Mom and Dad, much like body mod idiots. (go ahead and google "Body Mod idiot").

I also believe Atheists are pretty damn stupid, believing that there is no higher power. Most of them believe science is some sort of god, when science has repeatedly shown evidence that we don't know a damn thing, and to make sweeping statements such as "There Is No God of Any Sort" when there is no believable evidence for that hypothesis.

I also look down at my own beliefs, as being an attempt to unscrew the inscrutable, especially when I look up into the sky and see how insignificant my own existence is. Even more especially when I interact with my wife, who I love and have known over 4 1/2 years and been married to for nearly 4 years, and my lack of understanding of someone so similar to me makes me even more doubtful of the things I hold dear - if I cannot understand one so like me, how can I know something so dislike me?

But, especially, I look down on just about anyone who has a "God loves us" mentality, because the evidence put forth in the bible shows otherwise. Also, evidence in the daily world shows otherwise as well. You cannot explain away how a loving god would put such misery into this existence. Perhaps a blase god, or a malicious god, or an unconcerned god, but certainly not a loving god.

I do use audio online books in my mp3 player and transmit them to my car radio. (no mp3 socket ) I also download streamed audio from BBC, PBS and CBC. However, your book search did highlight a couple of sources of which I was unaware. So, thank you.
