Richard M. Nixon has always fascinated the readers of Gullible.info. Here are several facts posted over the years:

    • Former president Richard Nixon was an avid weightlifter and could bench press 220 lbs.

    • In later life, Richard Nixon's favorite 'comfort food' was Spaghetti-O's.

    • Nixon was buried with a croquet mallet at his side. Croquet was his free time passion.

    • Richard Nixon was once quoted as saying "If I knew for a 100 percent fact that I could get away with murder, I wouldn't hesitate to do it...at all."

    • Network news coverage of Republican political leaders has been three times more negative following Hurricane Katrina than in the week preceding Richard Nixon's resignation.

    • After addressing the nation, Richard Nixon's approval ratings went up an average of 4.3 percent, making him the most statistically successful orator in modern American history.

    • While in college, Richard Nixon played guitar in a band called "Richard and The Bottle Caps."

    • Nixon is the most widely disliked President in American history.

    • Richard Nixon wore dentures.

    • Richard Nixon's favorite snack food was dried figs.

All together, these little snippets flesh out a compelling portrait of this complex man.

Yes, Nixon was quite a peculiar man. While perusing through Congressional records I discovered some transcripts that were written on about 24 different Sundays from 1970-1973. Reading the transcripts, it appeared that they were some kind of journal authored by Nixon himself. Well after further research I discovered that Nixon actually called faux Congressional sessions to create an eternal log of select passages from his personal journal! It was actually quite brilliant, as those select passages make up most of what we have left of Nixon’s journal today.

Excellent work Fred. I haven't read all of these together, but when taken as a whole, it makes for a very interesting read.

The Arrogance of Power by Anthony Summers notes that Nixon himself was a great fan of trivia. Not only did he religiously watch quiz shows, but he also collected favorite facts and figures in a card catalog. His speechwriters often used this card catalog as a source of pre-approved material for his speeches.

That's right, Nixon even tried to make an appearance on the game show Jeopardy. But this was around 1988, long after the whole resignation business, so the producers of the show promptly turned him down.

He was however later on $64,000 Pyramid (or was it the later Super $100,000 Pyramid). I recall seing that show (it was heavily hyped, so I couldn't help but watch) around 1992 or so, though, as I recall, he was out in the first round. I think it was Alan Alda and his forgettable partner who won that episode?
