I just received this factual error report in regards to my March 12th post:
"Marcel, there is no South American Nation of San Marco!"
I'd like to formally apologize to my readers, that fact was quite presumptuous on my part. No, there is no South American nation of San Marco -- in the diplomatic sense. San Marco is a colloquial name used by natives of the Crédule tribe in French Guiana. I picked up this term while simultaneously studying French culture and Paleozoic-Mesozoic intrusives in French Guiana. The name stems back to 1606 when Marquis Marco de Claude invaded their tribe. After the humiliating defeat of Marco, the Crédule natives coined this name for the recently formed French Guiana nation. It's actually a bastardization of "sans Marco" which means "without Marco" in French. Because I lived with the Crédules for so long, I just tend to refer to French Guiana as San Marco.

Marcel, there is no French Guianan tribe of Credule!
An absence of evidence is not evidence of absence -- tribal documentation around the world has always been lacking in my opinion. I heard about the Crédules from a professor at L’université des Antilles et de la Guyane. I attempted to unearth some literature on the tribe before diving into their culture unprepared, but I came up with nothing. A guide who was familiar with the area was able to show me to the tribe, where I stayed for close to nine months. If I recall correctly, it was about a three hour drive southwest from Cayenne and then roughly two hours on foot.
Marcel, there is no basement in the Alamo!
Basement in the Alamo? What are you talking about?
Alamo... hmm... is that some secret habitat for llamas?
Ooo... cool... you can triple post here...
