I listen to a wide variety of music, so a friend asked if i could compile a CD for a middle school graduation.
They thought that I would be good at it. My were they wrong.

So, i was wondering if anyone had good songs that would work.
I would appriciate it if you could list the song name and artist, and maybe even the verse that makes it good.

    thanks! :waycool:

Middle school graduation? At least where I live, no one really cared a whole lot.

Well, to help the topic, what kind of environment would it be? Party? Ceremony? Other?

So is it going to be a lunch and a dance? Or just a lunch? Do you need background music or music for dancing?

Most graduations have a "theme song" that is a popular song that's out at the time of the graduation & represents the students.

If it's for a dance or something, I'd play a good mix of energy songs with some slower songs and then some romantic songs, and alternate them a bit, but definitely more slow-dance songs later on.

Huh -- Not mine. But that was quite a while ago.

  1.

How about "Holding out for a Hero" by Bonnie Tyler

A bit tongue in cheek, but a good rabble-rouser

I do recall that a few years back the graduating seniors at a local HS wanted to have Queen's "We are the Champions" played at their ceremony. The principal vetoed the idea because Freddy Mercury was not a good role model. <Eyeroll.>

Freddie had died of AIDS not too long before. The local media had a field day.

A popular graduation song around here the last couple of years seems to have been "Time of Your Life" by Green Day.

Or there's the classic "Graduation Song" by Vitamin C. And almost anything by Sarah McLachlan would work.

  2.

I vote foooor... the Marriage of Figarro, by none other than Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. yay for mozart!

Time of Your Life is a good song for graduation. Another good song would be "Celebration".

  3.

here's to the night by eve6 is pretty good. My graduating class was lame and voted for boys II men's end of the road. That song won all fours years I went to HS. I guess the mass population had no orginality left in them.

Ooh! How about The Longest Time by Billy Joel?! It doesn't really have anything to do with graduation, but still...

How about poppin' my collar by three six mafia? The catchy chorus is:

Now ever since I could remember I been poppin my collar
Poppin poppin my collar, Poppin poppin my collar
Every since I could remember I been working these hoes
And they betta put my money in my hand

  5.

That's the perfect song. I listen to it every time I go out, so I can remember to pop my collar.

I LOVE that song! Led Zeppelin's best, in my opinion!
