Interestingly enough, I just read this article the other day that says that smoking marijuana is a Passover no-no.

    I read that too.

Any non-kosher food, like leavened bread, pork, etc.

yeah that was in response to some jewish group saying hemp was kosher and all the jew hippies got excited.

pff, like it matters if it's kosher.

    No, that's poor logic.

Like if somebody says "No dogs are cats," then you stretching that to say "Well a pig is not a dog, therefore it is a cat."

I'm pretty sure boulders are uneatable during passover.

The article that I saw on that subject implied that it was ok, just not during Passover. Go figure.

As far as secular Jews are concerned, you're right on the money, jake. The only foods they abstain from are those that have been leavened with yeast. However, certain sects of Hasidic Jews (Hasidim) find it necessary to limit themselves even further as a testament of their commitment to God.

I once had a Rabbi who believed all Jews should abstain from any food that brings them pleasure during Pesakh (Passover). That meant no candy for children, no coffee or tea for adults, and if you got sick and the only thing that made you feel better was your bobe's chicken noodle soup, you could forget about it. He even advised us not to put salt and pepper on the dinner table until after Shavout since their sole purpose was to enhance taste simply for enjoyment's sake. The only foods Rabbi Holstein truly saw fit for Pesakh were water and matzo, barring any personal health problems that required a special diet. What was really suprising to me, as an eight-year-old nebbukh, was that so many people followed his instructions.

Well there are the general Jewish Kosher laws, no unclean food, but the only rule that's actually added JUST for passover is the no-yeast rule.
