hey what do you guys think of global warming. i mean i deffinately believe in it but i think people blow it way out of proportion they make it seem like the earth has never been though a climate change i think that global warming is real but people need to realize that the earth has been much warmer that it is now and so we mite not be the cause of everything goin on

There's a very high correlation between people who believe in global warming and people who believe in the Easter Bunny. .. and people who believe Al Gore invented the internet.

Everybody has to believe in something. Right now I believe I'll have another Scotch.

I feel that I'm on fairly solid ground when I say that humans are contributing to the greenhouse gases, but that the earth's temperature goes through cycles that are apparently unrelated to greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.

We are probably contributing to the depletion of the ozone layer, which is a bigger concern, IMO.

I recently watched a programme on TV that stated that something like 0.3% of the actual atmosphere is made up of greenhouse gases, and of this 95% is water.

So... If this is correct, human influence has little effect on the atmospheric gases.

Global warming was created through a snap judgement of a few scientists noticing a correlation between carbon emissions and the planet's temperature, and without proper research, decided the human race was solely responsible and publicized that. It was later discovered that the correlation happened to be a coincidence; The sun is the biggest influence to global warming.

In any case, it'll do nobody any harm to reduce carbon emissions and start recycling.

    I assume you meant .03%

95% of the greenhouse gasses is water? Is that what you mean?

Anyway -- I'd bet there are a handful of elements in your blood that make up .03% or less but if you were to be without them you'd be in dire straights. I may have to propose a formal gullifact to that effect.

Yeah, sorry for the mistakes, I'll edit that now... My internet explorer died so I had to write that comment twice, uncool.

And yes, 95% of the greenhouse gases are water is what I meant.

Hmm.... Water as a gas is water vapor. Even if gaseous H2O is combined with another gas it doesn't form a 3rd gas, as far as i can recall from my HS Chemistry class.

Too many humans was always going to be a problem, but how do you know it has anything to do with global warming?

  1.

See, people have it all wrong, it isnt Greenhouse Gases that are causing global warming, it is the increased use of automobiles, planes, and spacecraft. It isnt the fumes, its the speed. The travel is acutally causing a massive shift in the speed at which the Earth itself spins (making it faster by several seconds a year ((Huge difference relatively))). The space shuttles have the largest effect, but since they take off so infrequently their effect is negligible in relation to, say, LA. In addition to this is the increased friction due to ari resistance that minutely increases the temperature of the air. When this is done on a global scale, almost 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, the effect is enormous.

    Source,

Al Gore in private discussion with me.

i think that people who sya that the icap are melting and say it is because of global warming is crap because the ones that are melting are ice shelves and those are already being supported by water so if they melt then there is no rise in sea level. i saw a show last night with Al Core and he was talking bout how if the ice caps melted it would make sea levels rise something like 20 feet which is a lot but even if it does he is making it sound like it is gonna happen all at once, which is not true. i think that people like that are doing 2 things 1 playing on peoples fears and 2 giving people who arent educated in that area bad information. thats is wrong.

If the ice caps melt... Then the sea level should go down, right? Because solids take up more volume than liquids...

Antarctica is a legitimate continent. There's land under that ice/snow. If all that melted and ran into the ocean, the sea level would rise... about a quarter-inch.

Depends on the kind of news, with global warming, the only new thing that could happen would be that some new statistic comes out telling people how screwed we are. With Diana, the news could be some huge conspiracy/assassination plot.

Good point. 5010's factoid is now abolished to hell.

  2.

Ive got some al gore facts for ya

Al Gore expends much more energy and emitts much more carbon into the atmosphere with his private jet and mansion than the vast magority of, well, everyone. To offset this carbon unbalance in his life he donates money to a company which supposedly takes carbon out of the air. Heres my favorite part: guess who owns this company? No, not Nimro Klims, but one A. Gore

    I smell somethang fishay

i think al gore just wants attention and he needs to shut up. he acts like he has a freaking doctorate in global climate studies and i dont think he does.
has any one read the book state of fear? if u havent you should i liked it it discusses global warming but it is pretty intense i think al gore should have been the ring leader of the "bad guys" in the book

  3.

I wanted to see that BBC production. It seemed pretty good. In fact, it debunks about 95% of the "facts" Al Gore puts forth. I would suggest that Al Gore should be a Gullifact checker, but that would be insulting to the true fact checkers here.
