"Three of five people cannot correctly pronounce the name of the condiment Worcestershire Sauce."

Is this American people only, or worldwide? It should be stated in the fact.

Edit: I've now decided this probably doesn't matter, but it may add to effect if "American" is added.

I've never heard anyone pronounce it right. The chef who actually created it pronounced the W a V, and the C as a hard K. This belongs in citation station.

This fact covers all people who speak English. That should be self-evident.

When enough people pronounce it the wrong way, wouldn't it become the correct pronounciation over time?

Just because everybody believes something, doesn't make it true, just ask Christopher Columbus.

Funny, there's a guy on another website whose signature reads:

"The Bible was written by the same people who said the world is flat."

Not necessarily, it just becomes an accepted pronunciation. Is it right to have excessive violence/sex in movies? no, probably not, but it's accepted.

Why is it not right to have sex in movies?
And is it right to have excessive sex in real life?

    Depends on your view.

On TV, it is available to everyone, including children, and some parents do not like there childrens seeing sex on TV,. which is fair enough.

But in your own life, as long as you have consent, it's perfectly fine to do whatever you want sexual-wise.

    Unless it offends others.

A poem from 1850s has Worcestershire rhyming with fire.

The worst rhyme I've ever seen for Worcestershire was with "curtains sheer." I shudder to even reread it.

"Curtains"? Huh. I recall something about Worcestershire and "negligee sheer" -- and there were also some references to "whipped creamy-er". I gathered it was supposed to be pronounced "whipped creamy-ear".

    Bill still my heart.
