A few years ago when I was in middle school there was a day with a lot of wind and therefore a lot of sand in the air. I remember that when I left my house to go to school that day everything looked awkward. Why? the sun looked blue. It was still hard to look directly at it, but it's reflection could be seen in cars and other polished surfaces. I have no idea how did it happen. My guess is that the sand had something to do with it but there's ussually sand in the air around here and it has never happened again. Any thoughts?
I live near El Paso Texas by the way.
This question seems like it would be better addressed in the Citation Station. That's why it's now located in that forum.
I remember that day, I think. I remember the sun had a rainbow around it, and it was blue.
I think it has to do with the refraction of the light off the sand particles.
Crushthor is right. The light's wavelength was refracted toward the blue end of the spectrum because it had to travel through the atmosphere and through the sand particles.
you know Blue Sun has truly been on my mind lately.
I don't know if anyone is up with the cancelled T.V. Show "Firefly", but a storyline they would have
pursued was a Wal*Mart type company that ruled as a governement called "Blue Sun."
I have been wondering what the meaning of that is. There is a Darling Violetta song called "Blue Sun."
and then a Blue October (U.S.A) song called "Blue Sunshine" . Now I'm sort of assuming
it's about acid, but I really don't know.
That was a pretty long lead up to my question though,
Does anyone know an underlining meaning to the phrase "Blue Sun."?
out of mere speculation, it could mean having a particularly trippy drug trip, when everything goes different colours and for example the yellow sun becomes blue???
That would explain it, if it were the case.
I think Blue Sun is the child of Chris Wink of the Blue Man Group.
Wasn't he formerly in Devo?
There were two founding members of the blue man group from devo if i remember correctly.
