    ello, folks.

I've been a keen reader of Gullible Info for a while now, but only know have i decided to sign up and post. I knows not why, but its better to be late than never arrive.

But i have a question...I have just seen a fact on here saying "Marilyn Monroe was colorblind"
Now i remember a very informative science program (called Brainiac (British people might know of it)), that said:

    Women cannot be colour blind

They based their statement on the fact that women have 4 different types of Rod cells in their retina (correct me if its Cone cells that detect light...its been a while since biology), Whereas men only have 3 different types. This means women cant get the problem, and actually turn out to have better eyesight than men.

Now, either Braniac is incorrect, or Marilyn Monroe was a transvestite (i have trust in Gullible's findings).

Anyone interested in clearing this up?

Brainiac is a funny show, but not a good place to get solid facts from, I mean they blow up caravans.

Yes, Braniac is a good laugh, but their methods of experimenting aren't the best in the world...
So thank you, very kind

brainiac is a good show to watch as it's funny but there is very little significance in anything scientific they do

Sometimes, late at night, I'm able to catch an episode or two of Brainiac. I would love to get my hands on some thermite...

If you want something that burns, thermite is definitely not the best bet, try magnesium.

Dude, enough thermite would eat through your flesh and bone...
even if you were in a foot thick shell of solid diamond.

haha i get to do the thermite reaction in my chem class later this year :)

Well, the gene normally goes from a grandfather who has it to his daughter. The daughter does not normally get it, but it is usually transfered to her first son. This doesnt always work out, the second son or a daughter might get it occasionally.

i highly doubt you'll be able to use thermite at GCSE, as it burns at about 400*C in the right mix, hotter than magnesium which is about 200*C. It'l go through a car engine block and through the tarmac underneath :)

You should be able to get a recipie for it from google.

You might get to burn Thermite? That's outrageous!, the best thing we got to burn was a heat proof mat!

that doesn't normally make you go blind though because we always watch that during the million times we burn it in school and none of us are blind.. (yet..)

Unless you can find somebody who's color blind in 1 eye and normal vision on another, how can you prove any simulation is right???

Because somebody that's colourblind would find the before and after images identical.

I'm a female who is has a colour defficiency in my right eye. I'm also near-sighted in my right eye. My left eye is totally okay, so i never really noticed my eyesight was off. I just get really bad headaches sometimes, and it's because my left eye is straining to compensate for my right eye. There's nothing to be done about a colour defficeincy, but my glasses fixed the depth perception problem.

    Gullible info is right.
    as always.
