Why would Google be banned in China?

Actually, the problem is that the word "google" sounds (phonetically) in Chinese like a particularly perverted (to the Chinese) sexual practice.

Has anyone check this 'fact' ? I'm pretty sure Google is no longer fully blocked. That happened back in 2002, and I believe since then Google has actually agreed to either self censor or disable certain parts of their search engine in order to maintain a presence there. Try google.cn

Actually, while that was the official explanation, the unreported part was that Google also agreed to pay the top politicians an "adviser's" fee to "help" Google better understand how to help the Chinese population.

They've recently said that blocking results was a mistake. At least they didn't take the yahoo route, and surrender information about dissidents to the Chinese government. Although both company's compromises there are pretty bad.

No, they're supposed to respect their corporate mantra (Don't be evil), and understand that selling out their values might have negative ramifications in the long run.

    Dear estebanissexy,

If you notice under your comment box there are two radio buttons, of which 1 denotes "Text" and another "Html", you are more than welcome to choose Format comments as "Html" if you wanted to use quote.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

    Best regards,

Not particularily talking about anyone here, but it's funny how people (usually young girls) persuit love, fairies, and sense of security, when none exists.

So it seems that the trends list off of the Zeitgeist 100 list is the fastest-rising terms. Therefore, it will be those terms that have previously been not as popular, that are suddenly more popular.

If 5000 people search a term that has been searched a million times, it probably won't get on the list. But if 50 people search a term that's only been searched 10 times so far...proportionally that's way more, so it'll be higher on the list.

That's why all the "obvious" ones aren't there...they've been popular for longer.

  4.

Bump! This thread is number one in google for "most searched word" and "most searched word on google", which is odd. We're beating Google in page rank. Anyone know anything else about the words searched on Google.

All I get from the beta for "Just Ask Jesus" is the response "God helps those who helps themselves."
The UI is UNBELIEVABLE (but those of faith would disagree).

Well, see the Beta Version is like Judaism, you have to slaughter a sacrificial lamb first. When the real Just Ask Jesus comes out though, you can ask Him real questions.
