i was listening to weebl and skoos podcast and heard a qeustion they said and was wondering if this is possible,
if u put plain paper in the microwave on it's own could it be possible to microwave out all the liquid so that it spontaeously combusts?
i would like to know how long it would take on max heat for a 1000 watt microwave
Sounds like a job for myth busters.
I've done that experiment with my son. It works best with tracing paper, but if you don't have that, use the thinnest paper that you can find. Put the piece of paper in the microwave and then seal up the door with duct tape on all sides. Do NOT tape over the vent fan -- the idea is to prevent relatively humid air from entering the microwave while it is venting out all of the moisture. Once that is done, set the microwave for somewhere around 2 hours (you may have to use the multi-step cycle if you can't program it for over an hour). Once done, it will be completely water-free inside, and you'll notice that the paper will have curled up into almost a sphere. In one quick motion (best with two people), peel off the tape and open the door so that the normal air rushes in, and it will promptly spontaneously combust.
It's fun to do once or twice, but not nearly as cool or as simple as putting a CD in the microwave (shiny side up) for about 5 seconds.
aaah how long woould it take with a4 printeer paper tho?
ive done something similar to what u did with ur son, you put a little bit o water in a empty milk bottle, thn flatten the bottle a bit so the water doesnt escape but the bottles still crushed a bit ,then microwave the bottle wit lid sealed until it inflates itself then, once it looks pretty well inflated then microwave for 1 minute with the lid only just loose enough to let air out.
when u take the bottle out of the microwave and seal the lid agen as it coools it crushes itself till theres almost no air left in the bottle.works faster if u run water thats freezing on 1 side of the bottle ,the bottle will self crush itself like a mini implosion.
2 or 3 balls of aluminum foil makes for a nice light show (mythbusters)
Here is some crazy stuff you can do with microwaves: (disclaimer: I, nor gullible.info take responsibility for damages to property or person if you follow the following instructions)
1. Cut a grape in half and put them in the microwave so the edges are barely touching. Viewed from the top it should look like two circles next to each other with no overlap. Turn on microwave and watch the light show! This "experiment" produces plasma between the grapes.
2. Put a candle or match in the microwave. Set the timer for like 20 seconds. Make sure the object is upright so it doesnt snuff itself out. Light the thing, close door, press start. And watch the fireworks ensue. (this one is absolutely crazy)
CD's are always a fun time, so are various fruits and vegetables (even eggs)
