    Apparently several states are putting forth legislation that would qualilfy this experiment as an 'explosive device'. It seems in a small town in Idaho, a child shot out his eye while performing this stunt, which has led to possible criminal charges againt the creators, Mentos and the Coke a Cola bottling company of Eugene, OR. in a 'shotgun' lawsuit, named after a massacare in 1908 in Seattle WA where a young Chinaman used a shotgun to kill several folks on the waterfront over a dispute about some fish tossing.

    Yes, the news didn't state what the actual ratio was, but they did say, "If there were any more Mentos invovled, we would be scraping the young mans' brains off the patio."

    Yes, you try to drop them in the soda (diet is prefered) you have to get them in as close as together as possible.

    That's the big thing now, trying to figure what in the world is in Mentos that would cause such a violent reaction when mixed with the carbination of soda.

    He explains it in that page. It is a combination of the chemicals inside the mento shell lowering the surface water tension in the coke and the formation of bubbles on the mento's pitted surface. Just read it :p

    it works best if you pierece the bottle cap, drop in all the mentos you can, and screw the lid on quickly. obviously, this isn't always practical, but me and my friend were doing these experiments for months before that video was released

    we used Trebor Softmints, Trebor Extra-Strong Mints, and Polos (hint: instead of softmints or polos, break up about six extra-strong mints, drop them in, screw on the cap, and point it somewhere inconvenient. like the cctv camera in the multi-storey carpark behind LIDL in which we did the expereiment)

    better still is the combination of a lot of mints and a bottle of cheap shandy, from German Hypermarket-warehouse LIDL. pierce a hole in the lid, drop in the mints, and stand back. WOO-HOO!!!
