In 2005, "foreign press correspondent" was the most dangerous job in the United States.
A foreign press correspondent is obviously someone who is emplyed in the United States, but does not work in the United States, kind of a ridiculous fact. Or are we to believe that correspondants from other nations are under real danger while within the US?

That's a goofy little catch, but unfortunately, you're incorrect. I'm pretty sure it is based on what people list as their profession on their tax returns. If they're filing US tax forms, then they'd list their job as "foreign correspondent."

Correct. It was culled from information on people who are based in the US, and thus filing US tax returns. A "foreign press correspondant" in that context would be a journalist who is an "American" (in that they consider themselves to live in the US) but yet spends their career travelling overseas.

Another little factoid that fell out of that research was that only 15% of those deaths were in Iraq. About 60% were in various African nations, and the remainder were spread throughout the rest of the world. There was even one in Antarctica, apparently due to a blood embolysm due to the high altitude.

I remember hearing about the person who died in Antarctica.
